They are made of pressed cardboard that is painted black. The lid has glass glued to its underside. The lower half of box is filled with a cottony pad for the item. When the top half of box is slid down over the lower half, it holds the item snugly between the cotton pad and the underside of the glass window in the lid. Thus, the item it safe and nicely displayed for very little money.
